Camp Information

DATES: July 21 - July 27, 2024 (6 nights)    

LOCATION: Shady Creek, Nevada City, CA. Shady Creek Outdoor School & Event Center - Home 

CAMP AGE ELIGIBILITY

• Campers: 4-H members and non-4-H members, ages 9 to 14 years (as of July 20th, 2024).

• Youth Staff: 4-H members and non-4-H members, ages 15-18 years or incoming Sophomores through incoming Seniors (as of July 20th, 2024).

FEES FOR CAMPERS

• $600 - EARLY BIRD registration.

• $675 - After May 13th 

• $45 additional for Camp Sweatshirt (optional). Fees include a camp t-shirt and a camp picture (sweatshirts are an additional fee).

• No refunds after May 15th, 2024.

• STAFFER FEES

Marin County 4-H Camp Mission, Objectives, Values

Mission

The mission of Marin County 4-H Camp is to enrich the lives of youth in a residential camp setting that focuses on the social, physical and emotional well-being of participants and provides youth development opportunities through hands-on, experiential learning in an environment where youth feel safe, can master new skills and abilities, and develop the confidence they need to positively contribute beyond camp in their local communities.

Camp Objectives

• To provide a safe camp environment, physically and emotionally. 
• To provide intentional, experiential youth development programming. 
• To teach youth about citizenship, the importance of being a responsible citizen, and to provide opportunities to practice citizenship. 
• To provide learning opportunities for youth to 
• socially interact, learn to get along with others, and build relationships. 
• engage in nature on their own and through intentional programming. 
• try new things and explore new interests. 
• develop leadership skills and be of service to others. 
• develop independence, problem-solving, and self-reliance skills.
• learn to take responsibility for their own decisions and actions and to meet individual and group responsibilities.

ACTIVITIES

There are many amazing activities and traditions at Marin 4-H camp including archery, arts and crafts, hiking, outdoor cooking, nightly campfires with skits, songs, and more. Campers are organized into tribes of different ages and meet regularly, compete, and perform together throughout the week. Adult chaperone's oversee camp and youth staff lead and manage nearly all aspects of daily life throughout the week including special events like the dance, carnival, talent show, and scavenger hunt. Youth/Teen Staff work together to lead and provide a magical experience for each other and campers! Campers and staff sleep in cabins and eat communally in the dining hall. Camp is about having fun, doing activities, and learning about self, others and the natural world in an experiential way that is both structured and unstructured.
