The Program: Want to learn about growing edibles? Come and hear about preparation of planting beds and containers, selection of plant varieties including tomatoes, best watering practices and managing diseases and problems - lessons learned from a real garden!
The Speaker: Anne-Marie Walker, a Master Gardener since 2005 and a UC Certified Trainer for both Edible and Sustainable Landscapes, writes articles on edibles and herbs for UC publications and the Marin Independent Journal. A fourth generation San Franciscan, she first learned about farming on her family’s Gravenstein apple and sheep ranch in Cloverdale. She holds a BS from Georgetown University and an MBA from University of San Francisco. She helped found a UC program, “Dig it, Grow it, Eat it” taught in both school and community gardens. Focus will be on fruits and vegetables native to the Americas.
