The Sale: The Marin Master Gardener Tomato Market and Information Exchange will feature 9 heirloom and 11 hybrid tomato varieties selected for their exceptional taste, superior growth habits, disease resistance and their performance in Marin’s microclimates. The plants are all grown from seed by Marin Master Gardeners at the Falkirk greenhouse in San Rafael.  Each market will also have an Information Exchange where you can get answers to your questions and learn valuable techniques for growing tomatoes in Marin County.

A Wonderful World of Color: Try our new varieties of red, orange, yellow, green, blue and black tomatoes.  In addition to last year’s variety, try something new!

  • New Offerings: Barry’s Crazy Cherry, Black Prince, Dr. Wyche’s Yellow, Green Giant and Porkchop.
  • A Rainbow of Cherries: Barry’s Crazy Cherry, Chocolate Cherry, Rapunzel, Sun Gold and Sweet 100.
  • Coastal Cool Weather Varieties: Black Prince, Carmello, Chianti Rose, Japanese Black Trifele, Jaune Flamme, Oaxacan Jewel, Paul Robeson, Sun Gold and Sweet 100. 
  • Container Varieties: Carmello, Cherokee Purple, Early Girl, Japanese Black Trifele, Jaune Flamme, Sun Gold and Sweet 100.
  • Beefsteak Tomatoes: Brandywine, Chef's Choice Orange, Cherokee Purple, Chianti Rose, Dr. Wyche’s Yellow, Green Giant, Oaxacan Jewel, Paul Robeson and Porkchop.

The Information Exchange: Marin Master Gardener Advisors will be on hand to answer questions and help with tomato selection, growth requirements and planting techniques.  They will also be available cover other relevant tomato-growing topics such as container gardening, irrigation, pest management, scaffolding and pruning, soil preparation and planting.
