Program: Concerned about how to have a beautiful garden AND reduce the risk of wildfire? Because wildfires are the new normal in California, the time has come for every homeowner to adapt and protect their homes by creating a fire-smart landscape while improving their garden’s overall health and beauty. As daunting as wildfires can be for homeowners, this seminar offers guidelines where they should start and where they can go for information and resources. Marin Master Gardener Toni Gattone will outline the important steps that homeowners can take to plan and “work towards” creating and maintaining a fire-smart landscape.

Speaker: Toni Gattone is a “How-To” Adaptive Gardener, a speaker, and an author. She joined Marin Master Gardeners in 2011 and served for two years as Co-Chair for the Public Seminar, spreading the word on Edible Landscaping and Growing Edibles in Containers. In 2015, she began presenting her Adaptive Gardening seminar, You Can Garden for Life. Toni lives in Larkspur where she and her husband are adapting their traditional, ornamental front yard into an edible and fire-smart landscape.
